Standing in the Gap — no.4e

— prayer for children accused of being witches.

As it is, we see that God has carefully placed each part of the body right where he wanted it. … For no matter how significant you are, it is only because of what you are a part of; no part is important on its own. This is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part … If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance. 1 Corinthians 12:18–26 extract (MSG)

Today’s theme:

Collaboration and increase in membership of SCWA.

Multiple organisations are engaged deeply in developing mechanisms to support vulnerable children across the world.

SCWA is Coalition of charitable agencies and consultants. Currently we have representatives from the Bethany Children’s Trust, Born Equal, Health Communications Resources, and ThirtyoneEight on our Steering Group, as well as consultants with connections to the Bible Society, Teach for All, Amor Europe, among other non–profit organisations (…and we could name several more who served us faithfully during our earlier years).

We know that many people around the world share a common motivation and conviction in respect of this issue, and so we seek to connect with others who have expertise of the issue of child witchcraft accusations, or who have experience of effective ways to combat similar harmful beliefs and practices.

We have learnt that the most effective way to engage in this work is through complementing each other’s abilities. And this is SCWA’s prayer as it continues to grow its assignments globally.

Lord, give each and every member your strength, courage, wisdom…

Let us pray…

Lord, may you graciously bring us to appreciate the continuity and connection of different organisations in your work among the children of the world, especially the most marginalised and vulnerable. May SCWA be alert to the opportunities of cooperation and collaboration that you bring our way.

Lord, give each and every member your strength as we work together. Grant us courage in the challenges we face, wisdom in the decisions we take, and success in seeing harmful beliefs and practices replaced with values that esteem and celebrate children. Amen.
