Standing in the Gap — no.4g

— prayer for children accused of being witches.

God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest — what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. 1 Corinthians 2:7 (MSG)

The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it! 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (MSG)

Today’s theme:

Reaffirming our shared vision.

It is beneficial to often remind ourselves of our sense of vision — believing, knowing and trusting that we are all on the right path. All our efforts are focused on the Lord’s purpose for all people. We need to draw strength and encouragement from the knowledge that God is sovereign and will complete the task which he has called his people to perform.

Our motivation to action arises from a shared concern to end the abuse and stigmatisation suffered by thousands of children who are accused of witchcraft.

Our conviction is that no child should ever suffer in this way. And we believe that churches have a significant role to play in ending these abuses against children.

Our vision is to play our part in ending accusations of witchcraft against children and the resulting harm, so that all children can be nurtured, valued, and kept safe within their churches and communities, living a life free from fear, full of hope and opportunity.

Lord, let us be confident in our calling as we set our eyes anew on our vision…

Let us pray…

Reignite a sense of purpose in our hearts and minds, oh Lord. Deepen our conviction, and energise our motivation. May we be ready to serve, patiently enduring all that may lie ahead as we strive to fulfil our role in bringing about positive change.

Let us be confident in our calling, oh Lord, as we set our eyes anew on our vision of another possible reality: a world where children are cherished and valued, can live in hope and dream big, and are given space to become all that they are created to be. Amen.
